The Lower Merrion spy laptop story just keeps on getting worse for school officials. First, school IT mangagers thought it was OK to put software on school issued laptops that let them activate the built in webcam and see what the student was up to, whenever the school wanted to. Second, the school blew their little secret when they tried to punish a student for "taking drugs" when the student was eating Mike & Ike candy at home. The parents sued and the story got better:
IT Managers claimed they barely used the spy feature on the laptops. Turns out, "barely used" meant 56,000 photos of students were taken.
Putting the cherry on top is the revelation, thanks to blogger Rev. Spork who reported that 400 of the photos were taken with a student in the bathroom and in various states of undress.
